The hand caste has the index finger covered in a film of silver leaf effectively covering the finger print. The Certificate of Authenticity (not the official CoA) that accompanies the work affirms, in Spanish, that the work has been subjected to forensic fingerprint tests and that given the absence of any fingerprints the laboratory can confirm that the artist has not come into contact with the work of art at any time and therefore can credit the attribution of the work to the said artist. A paradoxical game on the subject of authenticity, (perhaps, also, a side commentary on artists who no longer dirty their hands with the physical production of their work) and a sister piece, in some senses, to Constructed Identity.
