The woodsmen are back. This time, things are less sustainable.
Unsustainable Intervention is a unique original sculpture by Furst_Ori (ArtandShadow) and part of the Woodman Series — a body of work exploring the darker moral possibilities of the selfie culture and the proudly posed act of showing off one's handiwork.
In this piece, two woodsmen pose with characteristic pride beside their latest achievement: the severing of the cable sustaining a group of schoolchildren on a zip line.
A darkly comic meditation on complicity, self-documentation, and the gap between intention and consequence. The collision of cheerful self-congratulation and catastrophic outcome creates a work that is simultaneously funny, unsettling, and impossible to look away from.
A two-dimensional collage image housed in a three-dimensional steel sculpture that, depending on the available lighting, transforms into a small shadow theatre. Displayed as shown, the three sculptures occupy a wall space of 120cm × 50cm.

Material Hazards & Handling
- Metal
components may include intentional sharp edges, points, or delicate
structural details inherent to the artistic design. Handle with care
during unboxing and placement to avoid injury or damage to the piece. - Acrylic
elements should not be subjected to excessive pressure or impact, as they
may crack or detach from the metal frame. - Stability:
Place the sculpture on a flat, stable, and sturdy surface capable of
supporting its weight. Avoid high-traffic areas where it could be
accidentally knocked over.
Maintenance & Care
- Cleaning:
Use only a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Never use alcohol, chemical
solvents, or abrasive products — these will permanently cloud, scratch, or
crack the acrylic surface. - Heat
& light: Keep away from open flames, candles, and direct high-heat
sources. Prolonged exposure to intense heat or direct sunlight may warp or
discolour the acrylic components.
