Prueba Forense — A Paradox of Authorship by Furst_Ori

Forensic proof that the artist never touched their own work

A forensic investigation into the nature of artistic authorship, Prueba Forense (Forensic Evidence) is a conceptual sculpture that plays a paradoxical game with the ideas of authenticity and creation. In this piece, we have created a human hand cast in plaster cast and glass, with its index finger delicately covered in a film of precious silver leaf—a physical choice that effectively conceals the fingerprint beneath it. The sculpture is accompanied by a very specific, mock Certificate of Authenticity (distinct from our official studio certificate) which affirms, in Spanish, that the piece has been subjected to rigorous forensic fingerprint analysis. Given the complete absence of any physical prints on the surface, the fictional laboratory formally confirms that the artist has not come into contact with the work at any time—and therefore, by a strange twist of bureaucratic logic, officially credits the attribution of the work to said artist.

Through this narrative, we wanted to construct an ironic commentary on the modern relationship between the creator and the object, while perhaps offering a quiet nod to the contemporary art world trend where artists no longer dirty their hands with the physical production of their own work. In this sense, it acts as a direct sister piece to our larger installation, Constructed Identity, continuing our fascination with how bureaucracy tries to categorize the human soul. The physical presence of the sculpture thrives on the contrast of its materials, balancing the cold, raw texture of the structural plaster against the fragile clarity of glass and the reflective brilliance of the silver leaf. Every element was finished by hand in our studio, ensuring that the visual texture carries a weightless, analytical depth that looks beautiful under a direct spotlight.

A museum-standard statement object designed for serious art collectors and aficionados of avant-garde conceptual art. It stands as an "original" that playfully redefines the dialogue of what makes an artwork "authentic." To preserve its conceptual integrity, the sculpture is hand-signed by us and is supplied alongside its custom forensic certificate. It is carefully prepared to ship securely in a protective box, ready to bring its philosophical friction and striking physical presence into your private collection.

Product Safety & Compliance Information

Legal Notice & Artistic Nature

This is an original, handmade work of art, produced in a
limited series and intended for collectors and decorative display purposes
only. In the interest of full transparency and the safety of our collectors, we
provide the following information regarding the correct handling and
preservation of the artwork.

Intended Use & Environment

  • Indoor
use only. This sculpture is designed exclusively for indoor decorative
display. Exposure to outdoor conditions — including rain, moisture, frost,
or high humidity — will cause corrosion of the metal components and
    degradation of the acrylic elements.
  • Not
a toy. This is a professional artwork and is not intended for children.
Please keep it out of reach of children and pets at all times.

Material Hazards & Handling

  • Metal
components may include intentional sharp edges, points, or delicate
structural details inherent to the artistic design. Handle with care
during unboxing and placement to avoid injury or damage to the piece.
  • Acrylic
elements should not be subjected to excessive pressure or impact, as they
may crack or detach from the metal frame.
  • Stability:
Place the sculpture on a flat, stable, and sturdy surface capable of
supporting its weight. Avoid high-traffic areas where it could be
    accidentally knocked over.

Maintenance & Care

  • Cleaning:
Use only a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Never use alcohol, chemical
solvents, or abrasive products — these will permanently cloud, scratch, or
    crack the acrylic surface.
  • Heat
& light: Keep away from open flames, candles, and direct high-heat
sources. Prolonged exposure to intense heat or direct sunlight may warp or
    discolour the acrylic components.
